In-House Privacy Specialist

ResponsibilitiesThe primary focus of this role is to advise on enterprise programs related to privacy, information security, risk, and compliance. You will provide legal advice on federal and state privacy and information security requirements, enterprise risk management, and the compliance and ethics program.
You will also advise on other programs, including information retention, crisis management, AML/OFAC, and business continuity, as well as general technology-related legal matters. This role requires collaboration with peers in other legal practice groups and business leaders throughout the enterprise.
This is a hybrid role, requiring significant time in the office and virtually. Work arrangements may change over time based on business needs.
QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you must have a juris doctorate (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school and excellent academic credentials. You must also have an active license to practice law in at least one state and be a member in good standing of the bar.
Additionally, you must have 5+ years of experience with privacy and/or information security laws and regulations, familiarity with risk and/or compliance programs, and familiarity with State Farm's company structure and general departments.
You must be able to demonstrate adaptability, learning agility, and the ability to excel in a collaborative environment. You should also be able to anticipate legal issues and enable clients' needs through the practice of practical, preventative law.
Finally, you must be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately and be able to obtain a limited license in IL if not already appropriately licensed in IL.
