Position Overview

Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, P.C. (CBM), a prominent accounting and business advisory firm serving clients across various regions, is in search of a committed Audit Manager. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of six years of experience in public accounting and auditing, with additional tax experience being advantageous. Strong organizational abilities and proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, are essential. Familiarity with CCH Engagement, CCH Suite, and BNA portfolios is considered a plus.

Flexible work arrangements, including remote options, are available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients to discuss audit strategies and outcomes
  • Foster professional relationships with clients
  • Create a comprehensive engagement work plan and ensure timely progress
  • Review and prepare financial statements, footnotes, work papers, tax returns, and management letters
  • Investigate and analyze unusual transactions, considering both tax and accounting implications
  • Explore tax strategies
  • Drive business development initiatives
  • Guide, mentor, and develop team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • Advanced degree is highly preferred
  • CPA certification is required
  • A minimum of six years in public accounting or controllership roles
  • At least three years of managerial experience with a proven ability to lead and nurture professional staff
  • Proficient in computer systems and software applications (experience with CCH Engagement, CCH Axcess - Tax, Document, QuickBooks, and BNA portfolios is advantageous)
  • Capability to manage multiple client engagements and effectively prioritize tasks
