Employment Status: Full-Time, Permanent
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Inpatient Coding Specialist responsible for optimizing reimbursement through precise coding and for sustaining a high-quality clinical database for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign ICD10CM and PCS codes to hospital inpatient visit diagnoses and procedure codes while capturing essential clinical data elements for all inpatient/outpatient medical records of discharged patients.
- Review and assess the contents of medical records alongside the suggested computer-assisted codes (CAC) to ensure the correct assignment of ICD diagnosis/procedure codes, present on admission indicators, hierarchical condition categories, and complications and comorbidities in the appropriate sequence according to official coding guidelines, resulting in accurate DRG assignments.
- Achieve a minimum accuracy rate of 95% in audits.
- Maintain a productivity level of 2.75 charts per hour following the training period.
- Conduct data analysis related to hospital inpatient coding.
- Accurately review and code patient records in the inpatient clinical setting.

Qualifications:
- Certification as CCS, RHIT, or RHIA
- A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in acute care inpatient coding
- Experience with Epic and 3M 360 CAC is preferred
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management is preferred but not mandatory
