The Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Penn State University is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Scholar to work under the supervision of Dr. Vittal Prabhu, Professor & Charles and Enid Schneider Faculty Chair in Service Enterprise Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop mathematical models of service systems and apply advanced data analytics for exploration, visualization, descriptive analytics, prescriptive analytics, and implement these in user-friendly software.
  • Conduct research on optimization formulations for resource allocation, demand forecasting, and parameter estimation based on available data.
  • Assist in designing and developing online short courses for practitioners and students that cover the concepts and use the software applications.
  • Present research outcomes at conferences and publish papers in peer-reviewed proceedings and journals.
  • Collaborate with faculty, students, and managers to achieve project goals.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in mathematical modeling and service systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
