Position Overview:
The Clinical Dietitian is accountable for evaluating and strategizing the nutritional care of patients, ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. This role collaborates closely with the Nutritional Services Director to guarantee the delivery of high-quality food service and nutritional support to patients.
Educational Requirements:
Minimum Required Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related discipline is essential. A Master's degree is highly regarded.
Experience Requirements:
Previous experience in acute clinical nutrition, nutritional support, and specialized dietary care is preferred.
Essential Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of safe food handling and quality food production practices.
- Proficient in both verbal and written communication.
- Familiarity with medical nutrition therapy in an acute care environment.
- Understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan, with the capability to provide appropriate care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as needed.
Experience with electronic health records is advantageous.Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Must be a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is strongly preferred. Additionally, a license or certification as required by the state of Texas and ServSafe Food Safety Certification is preferred.
Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Chief Nursing Executive.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not supervise any other roles.
