The Mental Health Association of Alameda County (MHAAC) is a reputable non-profit organization with a long-standing staff dedicated to assisting individuals with mental health challenges and their families through various programs. These initiatives include the Family Education Resource Center, the Family Partnership Program, and the Patients' Rights Advocacy Program, which collectively support thousands of individuals each year. Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable: Ensure proper approval, coding, and documentation of vouchers before entering them into the accounting system. Prepare biweekly checks and maintain organized records.
  • Accounts Receivable: Manage monthly billings to contract sources, maintain related documentation, and prepare annual cost settlements.
  • Journal Entries: Prepare journal entries for electronic payments reflected in the monthly bank statement.
  • Payroll Management: Process biweekly payroll and verify the accuracy of timecards.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Oversee prepaid general ledger schedules and recognize monthly prepaid expenses.
  • Bank Deposits: Prepare deposit slips and manage the deposit process for checks received.
  • Reporting: Prepare annual 1099 forms for contractors and stipend recipients.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Successful completion of a fingerprint background check
  • Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination and recommended boosters
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience with video conferencing platforms
  • Bilingual in one of the designated languages

Compensation and Work Environment

  • Hourly Pay: $33.64
  • FSLA Status: Nonexempt
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM
  • Remote work options may be available after the introductory period
