About the Role

Frost Bank is seeking a skilled Software Engineer II to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, testing, implementing, supporting, and documenting solutions for assigned applications across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, write, test, implement, and document solutions for assigned program modules
  • Collaborate with project teams and other Software Engineers to provide technical support
  • Support assigned IT systems/applications by troubleshooting and resolving defects
  • Apply Integrity, Caring, and Excellence to achieve all-win outcomes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues across interrelated programs and systems and develop the appropriate solutions, typically requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Strong understanding of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures associated with programming
  • Experienced in developing integration, middleware, SOAP and RESTful services, and/or APIs
  • Proficient in Java and databases like Oracle, Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
  • Strong debug and problem-solving skills in APIs/web services and java applications
  • Ability to pick up and leverage new payment technologies
  • Exposure with Agile methodologies including Scrum/Kanban and agile tools like Jira
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
  • Understanding of the various payment schemes like Zelle, ACH, Swift, Wires, and instant payments [TCH/RTP, FedNow]
  • Familiarity with ISO20022 standards
  • Experience with cloud, microservices, Spring Boot, and APIs
  • Knowledge of container frameworks like OpenShift, Docker, or Kubernetes
  • Knowledge on CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, helm charts, Tekton, Argo CD, etc.
  • Working experience with event driven/messaging frameworks such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or IBM MQ
