Job Summary and QualificationsThe Orthopedic Surgical Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with medical providers. This role involves providing care to patients pre and post spine, ortho, and abdominal surgery, serving as an advocate for patients to support an exceptional patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:- Care for post-surgical and medical patients, including those undergoing orthopedic surgery, joint replacement, spine, and abdominal surgeries.
- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient response.
- Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.
- Licensure as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and possess PC skills.
- Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Previous experience in an acute care setting is strongly preferred.
- Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
