Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Office Technician to join our team at Carilion Clinic. As a Medical Office Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day staffing in an outpatient clinic setting, both clinically and administratively, depending on the need of the practice.
  • Perform all responsibilities of the HAA, as well as clinical assistant responsibilities, based on training, education, and competency.
  • Creates a positive experience for patients by welcoming and assisting them throughout the clinic.
  • Performs waived and other testing in-house based on equipment available, documented training, and competency.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies, including cleaning, maintaining, performing QC's, and calibrating equipment.
  • Reports abnormal or critical results to the appropriate physician or clinical team member.
  • Assists with ordering, dating, and sorting laboratory supplies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year experience in physician office laboratory preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification required at time of hire or within one year from date of hire.
  • Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required within first 90 days of hire.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.
  • Must have keen attention to detail, superb dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
