Key Responsibilities:
  • Triage and Assessment: Perform initial assessments to evaluate patient conditions quickly, checking vital signs, assessing for obvious injuries or distress, and gathering information from pet owners.
  • Medical Procedures: Proficiently perform venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with technical staff to ensure hospitalized patients receive optimal care, maintaining open communication with the healthcare team.
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Monitoring: Vigilantly monitor hospitalized patients, recognizing subtle changes in their clinical status and promptly reporting concerns to the veterinary team.
  • Client Education: Provide clear and concise discharge instructions to clients, ensuring they understand the care their pets require after leaving the hospital.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including patient history, treatment details, and client communication.
  • Anesthesia and Sedation Monitoring: Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia to ensure patient safety.
  • Diagnostic Imaging: Operate diagnostic imaging equipment and assist in capturing radiographs and other diagnostic images.
  • Laboratory Procedures: Run diagnostics, correlate results with patient clinical presentation, and notify veterinarians of results.
  • Blood Transfusion Therapy: Collect, administer, and manage transfusion reactions.
  • Assist Doctors: Collaborate closely with veterinarians to assist in exams, treatments, and medical procedures for emergency cases.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (CVT) or internship trained.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and often high-stress environment.
