About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate LADC Counselor to join our team in Duluth, MN. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing essential treatment services to clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of addiction and substance use disorder models and theories, as well as the ability to apply meaningful strategies for reducing the negative effects of substance use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver treatment services in compliance with licensure requirements under the guidance of the Program Director and Program Managers.
  • Provide individual case management, including the creation and monitoring of individualized treatment plans for clients with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic group sessions on addiction and recovery processes.
  • Conduct assessments of substance use and mental health problems, providing counseling services tailored to client needs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely file documentation for all client activities and services.
  • Provide culturally sensitive services to clients and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Attend weekly supervision sessions with a Mental Health Provider (as applicable).
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality regulations, uphold ethical standards, and maintain all required licenses.
  • Assist with client admissions, funding management, and data entry into Minnesota DHS systems.
  • Participate in professional development through in-service training and maintaining awareness of changes in the substance use disorder field.
  • Represent the organization at community outreach events and provide after-hours consultation as needed.
Requirements
  • Current LADC License.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in substance use disorder and/or mental health.
  • Previous counseling or internship experience.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent written, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to pass a Minnesota DHS background study.
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team and relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
