Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Loadmaster to join our team at Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command. As an Aircraft Loadmaster, you will be responsible for administering, scheduling, and conducting flight and ground training to develop, upgrade, and evaluate the skills of load master air crew members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and provide technical loadmaster upgrade and proficiency training/instruction to Reserve aircrew members and Air Reserve Technician personnel.
  • Accomplish all requirements involved in mission planning and coordination.
  • Accomplish a wide variety of pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight duties required by the nature of the aircraft assigned and the aircraft's specialized mission.
  • Develop evacuation procedures for aircrew and passengers.
  • Administer no-notice, pyramid, and annual evaluations.
  • Evaluate aircrew members' performance during all phases of flying mission execution.
Requirements
  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Travel expenses will not be paid.
  • Disclosure of political appointments.
  • Preferred military AFSC 1A271N and Grade: TSgt/E-6.
  • Position may or will require incumbent to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments.
  • Required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements.
  • Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
  • Position may require a background security investigation to determine suitability for employment and a Secret security clearance.
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Recruitment and relocation incentive may be authorized for this position.
  • May be required to perform duties of sky marshal.
  • Required to maintain proficiency in the use of firearms.
  • As prescribed by regulation, may be required to carry and utilize a concealed weapon while performing aircrew-related duties.
  • This is a testing designated position (TDP), and the employee is subject to random drug testing.
  • This position is covered by the domestic violence misdemeanor amendment of the Gun Control Act of 1968.
Qualifications
  • Applicants must meet the flying hours requirement below, qualify for a Career Enlisted Aviator (CEA) Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC), and hold a valid aviation service aeronautical order.
  • Applicants must have been qualified as an Aircraft Loadmaster within 8 years of the date of application.
  • Applicants for instructor or examiner positions must be within the past 8 years instructor or examiner qualified in the specific type of aircraft.
  • Flying hours required: Aircraft Loadmaster GS-08 - minimum of 300 total military flight time.
  • Aircraft Loadmaster (Instructor) GS: minimum of 500 total military flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of systems and equipment associated with the cargo function, including operation of doors, loading ramps, cargo winches, restraint rail systems, and assigned passenger/cargo compartment systems.
  • Knowledge of aircraft capacity and limitations, including floor load restrictions, shoring and restraint requirements, and use of load charts and graphs.
  • Knowledge of procedures for preparing cargo for loading, palletized cargo, vehicle preparation, handling and placement of hazardous cargo, and preparing containers and pallets for airdrop.
  • Skill to direct crews in loading according to weight and balance factors, cargo destination, emergency jettison plans, and use of rigging extraction systems for aerial delivery mission.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to prepare lessons, documents, and reports, present training/instruction, and brief passengers and crews.
