Veterinary Student Externship Opportunity

East El Paso Animal Hospital is proud to offer veterinary students the opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. Our externship program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in a small animal practice, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting.
Eligibility Requirements- Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit
- Must provide proof of professional liability insurance
Our state-of-the-art hospital offers a wide range of veterinary services, including ultrasound, endoscopy, soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, and dentistry. Our team of experienced veterinarians and skilled support staff are dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and a supportive learning environment.
What to ExpectDuring your externship, you can expect to actively participate in cases and further your development towards becoming a veterinarian. You will be supervised by an experienced veterinarian and skilled support staff, who will serve as your mentors throughout your experience. You will have the opportunity to participate in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments.
Case DiscussionsWe encourage externs to select one case per week to further research and engage the veterinarians in further case discussion with this additional information. These case discussions help our teams learn and grow together, further emphasizing that mentorship is a two-way street.
