Your contributions will include ensuring resident meals are prepared and served correctly by:
- Preparing cold carts according to daily requirements.
- Identifying and serving meals based on dietary needs, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness in meal presentation, including texture, consistency, appearance, portion control, taste, and temperature.
- Making suitable substitutions to meet meal satisfaction standards.
- Preparing the "always available menu" as necessary and ensuring compliance.
- Maintaining proper serving utensils for portion control.
- Removing soiled trays and ensuring sanitation of meal carts and food service areas.
Responsibilities include:
- Implementing first-in, first-out stock management.
- Accurately covering, labeling, and dating all food items.
- Discarding outdated items and documenting food temperatures.
- Keeping the pantry well-stocked and adhering to sanitation protocols through proper handwashing and food handling techniques.
- Cleaning workstations and equipment post-use and following all sanitation guidelines.
- Maintaining courteous and accurate communication with facility staff, residents, and families.
This role requires mobility for extensive standing and walking during meal preparation and service. Responsibilities include lifting and carrying trays and boxes up to 25 lbs, pushing/pulling food hot boxes up to 50 lbs, and bending or stooping for access to carts and equipment. Manual dexterity is necessary for using kitchen tools, along with visual acuity for reading menus and labels, hearing for verbal communication, and the ability to assess food quality through taste and smell. Exposure to varying temperatures is also expected.
Meeting these physical and sensory requirements is vital for effectively contributing to the well-being of senior residents in a community setting.
Qualifications:- Must be 18 years or older, subject to state requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience in customer service is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Successful completion of background checks and drug screenings as per state regulations.
- Health screenings and TB tests as required by state regulations.
- ServSafe Certification and State Food Handlers Card, as required.
- Willingness to work holiday and weekend shifts.
- Basic computer skills.
