POSITION TITLE: Educational Diagnostician

POSITION SUMMARY: The Educational Diagnostician plays a crucial role in ensuring that students with disabilities receive appropriate educational services and support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Special Education Teaching License
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience
  • Proficient knowledge in Response to Intervention (RTI)
  • Experience in conducting evaluations and writing comprehensive reports
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate case conferences
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in facilitating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Familiarity with current legislation, regulations, and assessment tools
  • Experience in conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments
  • Knowledge of teaching techniques and behavior management strategies
  • Experience with DIBELS and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and/or designated administrative personnel

JOB GOAL: To ensure that all students with disabilities have access to the necessary educational services and programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participation in GEI/RTI Process: Engage in the general education initiative and response to intervention processes.
  2. Referral Process: Assist educators in observing and referring students with suspected impairments.
  3. Evaluation: Conduct thorough academic and behavioral evaluations as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Report Writing: Gather and organize assessment data, ensuring timely completion of required documentation and reports.
  5. Professional Recommendations: Provide insights based on assessment results to inform educational placements and strategies.
  6. Case Conferences: Coordinate and participate in meetings to determine eligibility and planning for special education services.
  7. Eligibility: Ensure compliance with legal and procedural requirements for special education eligibility.
  8. Goal Writing: Support educators in developing measurable goals for students.
  9. Consultation: Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to enhance student outcomes.
  10. Progress Monitoring: Assist in the ongoing assessment of student progress.
  11. Service Delivery Development: Utilize evaluation data to implement evidence-based interventions.
  12. Resource to Others: Aid in planning and conducting professional development for staff.
  13. Planning for Department: Collaborate with other psychologists in organizing psychological services.
  14. Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional learning to maintain high service standards.
  15. Ethics: Report any violations of regulations to appropriate administration.
  16. Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisory personnel.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with standard teacher contract; additional days may be required based on administrative approval.

EVALUATION: Conducted in accordance with Board policy by the Director or designated personnel.
