Preferred high school diploma or GED. Experience: One year in a healthcare environment preferred.

SPECIAL DEMANDS:
Must possess a genuine interest in working with elderly individuals and demonstrate the physical ability to perform tasks. Responsibilities include standing, walking, turning, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and handling cleaning duties. Ability to lift and carry cleaning equipment is essential.
Willingness to engage in routine, repetitive tasks consistently, even amidst frequent interruptions.

As a cleaning specialist, you must exhibit the capability to execute tasks with due regard for residents in their living spaces.

Initiative and judgment are necessary for maintaining assigned areas in a clean and orderly state. Close supervision is provided while performing straightforward, standardized tasks.

JOB KNOWLEDGE :
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English; follow instructions; interact tactfully with staff, residents, family members, and visitors; utilize supplies appropriately and maintain equipment; uphold the appearance of housekeeping areas in a safe, clean, and comfortable manner; collaborate harmoniously with other staff; possess the ability to explore new methods and principles, and be willing to integrate them into cleaning practices; capable of following written and verbal instructions regarding the mixing of cleaning agents and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Execute daily housekeeping tasks as assigned. 2. Carry out specific duties according to daily work assignments and established cleaning protocols. 3. Ensure that designated work areas are kept clean, safe, comfortable, and visually appealing. 4. Adhere to established safety guidelines while performing tasks and using equipment and supplies. 5. Maintain infection control practices during cleaning operations. 6. Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and heating/cooling units in resident rooms and common areas as directed. 7. Sanitize and polish bathroom fixtures. 8. Clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and entryways. 9. Maintain floors through sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting. 10. Clean carpets by vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting. 11. Wash walls and ceilings by cleaning, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing. 12. Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using appropriate cleaning solutions. 13. Maintain cleanliness in hallways. 14. Dispose of waste in designated containers and replace liners in trash receptacles. 15. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment issues. 16.

Ensure that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored at all times, including before breaks and at the end of the workday.

17. Maintain an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies. 18. Report any malfunctioning lights to the supervisor or maintenance department. 19. Perform thorough cleaning procedures as instructed when a resident is discharged or transferred. 20. Strive to adhere to established cleaning schedules as closely as possible. 21. Follow fire safety policies and procedures. 22. Assist colleagues in lifting heavy equipment and supplies as needed. 23. Report all incidents or accidents to the supervisor. 24. Maintain confidentiality regarding resident care information. 25. Respect the personal and property rights of residents. 26. Clean work and supply carts and equipment as necessary. 27. Return any found items to the supervisor. 28. Attend departmental and staff meetings. 29. Keep work areas free of hazardous objects, such as protruding mop and broom handles, unnecessary equipment, and supplies. 30. Participate in in-service educational sessions and on-the-job training programs.

OTHER WORK VARIABLES :

Working Hours:
Hours assigned by the supervisor. Each shift includes a half-hour lunch break and may involve occasional night shifts for cleaning and maintenance tasks. Availability for work seven days a week is required.
