POSITION SUMMARY:

The Culinary Specialist is responsible for efficiently fulfilling food orders while maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation. This role involves preparing for daily restaurant operations, including buffets, banquets, salad bars, and hors d'oeuvres, while ensuring a clean and organized workstation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute opening and closing procedures as outlined in checklists.
  • Set up and dismantle workstations effectively.
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food prior to use.
  • Wash and peel fresh produce to prepare for cooking or serving.
  • Measure and combine ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Prepare cold dishes, including salads, sandwiches, condiments, and dressings.
  • Ensure food quality and report any discrepancies to management.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of menu items, including garnishes, ingredients, and preparation methods.
  • Prepare food items according to guest orders and specifications.
  • Manage guest orders in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Test food for proper cooking using various methods.
  • Communicate with the Chef during busy periods to ensure optimal service.
  • Utilize kitchen tools safely and correctly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including tables, tools, and equipment.
  • Adhere to food safety and handling regulations.
  • Follow safety protocols in food handling and preparation.
  • Practice proper food storage and hygiene procedures.
  • Monitor appliance temperatures and report any issues.
  • Use proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending and twisting.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a culinary role.
  • GED or College certification.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
