Job Title: Flight Surgeon

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies is seeking a highly skilled Flight Surgeon to support our government customer located in Dayton, OH. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of USAF aircrew.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive occupational aeromedical evaluations and chart reviews to identify disqualifying medical conditions requiring waivers for aircrew to return to operational duties.
  • Provide aeromedical risk assessments and recommendations to optimize aircrew health, mission performance, and flight safety.
  • Operate as an independent specialist within the Aerospace Medicine Branch and Aeromedical Consultation Service (ACS), participating in clinical conferences and collaborating with other aeromedical specialists.
  • Analyze and apply medical standards on all physical examinations, utilizing current resources such as the Medical Standards Directory (MSD) and USAF Aeromedical Waiver Guide.
  • Summarize clinical findings of ACS waiver consultations and clinical case evaluations in written and verbal formats.
  • Conduct FECA instruction/lectures via PowerPoint presentations to flight surgeons, aerospace physiologists, psychologists, and international flight surgeons in training.
  • Design plans for scientific and statistical investigations, utilizing data from FECA research to improve teaching and consultative mission tasks.
  • Collaborate with FECA professional colleagues and other staff to organize review of scientific literature and participate in discussion of same.
  • Assist in authoring scientific papers, professional presentations, and DoD technical reports in support of teaching, consultation, and research tasks.
Requirements:
  • Fully licensed physician with a specialty in aerospace medicine or preventive/occupational medicine with flight medicine experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in aerospace medicine or preventive/occupational medicine with flight medicine experience.
  • Ability to interpret clinical evaluations for aircrew, special duty operators, and other airmen.
  • Experience working with and evaluating USAF personnel or other DOD aviation or special duty personnel.
  • Active-duty flight surgeon experience with sufficient experience in Air Force medical standards to conduct aerospace and special operational evaluations.
Clearance and Citizenship:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a Tier I (SF85) Background check.
