Embedded Firmware Developer

About the Role

Leidos is seeking a skilled Embedded Firmware Developer to join our team of innovative engineers. As a key member of our Electrical Systems Department, you will design and develop cutting-edge embedded systems for aerospace and military applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded software in C/C++ for real-time systems
  • Develop low-level device drivers and interact with real hardware from a software environment
  • Work with boot processes and bootloaders, customizing U-Boot to support specific hardware configurations
  • Experience with high-speed data transfer using protocols like PCIe and Aurora
  • Collaborate with inter-disciplinary teams to solve complex technical problems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited institution
  • 8+ years of relevant experience or 6+ years with MS degree
  • High proficiency with C/C++, TCL, and FPGA system design
  • Familiarity with modern Xilinx FPGA families and design tools
  • Experience with multiple high-speed serial communication standards and interfaces
  • Motivated self-starter with experience executing in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with embedded operating systems
  • Experience working with SoC designs such as Zynq and Zynq Ultrascale+
  • Working knowledge of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics, components, and interface/communication standards
