We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Junior Swim Coach to join our team at YWCA Evanston North Shore. As a key member of our aquatics program, you will be responsible for creating a positive and supportive environment for our swimmers, while also contributing to the development of our swim team and learn-to-swim program.
Key Responsibilities- Swim Instruction
- Teach swim lessons for all levels and ages, ensuring a safe and effective learning experience for our swimmers.
- Monitor and evaluate swimmer progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to help them improve.
- Coaching
- Assist in planning and directing daily practices for our swim team, ensuring a well-structured and engaging experience for our athletes.
- Attend swim meets regularly, providing support and guidance to our swimmers and coaches.
- Communicate effectively with staff, swimmers, and parents, ensuring a positive and supportive team environment.
- Help analyze and evaluate swimmer performance, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies for growth.
- Assist Head Coaches and Senior Coaches as needed, providing support and guidance to ensure the success of our swim team.
- Program Support
- Review meet entries and results, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Track swimmer attendance and development, providing valuable insights to inform program planning and decision-making.
- Communicate with program participants, responding to inquiries and providing support as needed.
- Assist with fundraising events and other duties as assigned, contributing to the success of our aquatics program.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Attend staff trainings and participate in agency committees, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
- Pursue professional development opportunities, enhancing your skills and knowledge to support the success of our program.
- Understand and adhere to all YWCA Evanston North Shore procedures and policies, as well as YWCA Employee Handbook.
- Understand and follow all appropriate Illinois and National safety procedures and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the success of our organization.
- Education
- Some high school education or equivalent.
- Experience and/or Training
- At least one year of experience teaching advanced-level youth swimmers.
- Licenses/Certificates
- Current USA Swimming Coach membership.
- Valid driver's license and current auto insurance.
- Technology/Equipment
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic proficiency in using all available swim equipment.
- Access to a personal automobile to drive to and coach at regional swim meets.
