Position Overview

The Grocery Stock Associate plays a vital role in enhancing the shopping experience for customers by ensuring that shelves and displays are stocked efficiently and with care.

Reporting Structure

This role reports directly to the Store Director.

Employment Status

This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Knowledge

Required Knowledge: Completion of ongoing training as outlined in the Cosentino Learning Plan.

Preferred Knowledge: A high school diploma or equivalent is desirable.

Key Skills

The following skills are essential for success in this position:

  • Understanding and applying Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
  • Efficiently unloading and organizing incoming shipments while maintaining product integrity.
  • Keeping storage areas tidy and prepared for new deliveries.
  • Accurately stocking grocery shelves by matching UPC codes to shelf tags and employing the “face front” display method.
  • Assisting in inventory management through precise counting and documentation of merchandise.
  • Updating shelf tags and pricing markers as necessary.
  • Identifying and managing damaged or unsellable products according to established procedures.
  • Safely operating and maintaining all necessary equipment.
  • Meeting productivity benchmarks to achieve team and individual goals.
  • Monitoring expiration dates and ensuring proper product rotation.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment for both customers and colleagues.
  • Adhering to health regulations and safety protocols.
  • Exhibiting strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer interactions.
  • Demonstrating basic math and reading abilities relevant to the role.
  • Possessing comprehensive knowledge of department items and policies to assist customers effectively.
  • Handling customer complaints professionally and knowing when to escalate issues to management.
Additional Responsibilities

As needed, support the organization by taking on extra tasks as directed by management, assisting other departments, and acquiring new skills.

Physical Requirements

Employees should be prepared to perform the following physical activities:

  • Reaching overhead, twisting, and lifting items weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Pushing and pulling grocery carts and items, with a peak force of 75 lbs.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods on hard surfaces.
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Bending and squatting, including reaching floor level.
  • Working in cooler environments as required.

Non-essential abilities may include climbing ladders up to 5 feet.
