We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at St. Luke's Health–Sugar Land Hospital. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing ultrasound exams on patients and providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Perform ultrasound exams on patients according to departmental procedure protocols under the direction of the Medical Director.
- Provide patient orientation, procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test.
- Perform complete diagnostic imaging tests, including positioning patients, equipment management, and documentation of findings.
- Prepare equipment to ensure it is operational, safe, and functioning according to diagnostic standards.
- Problem-solve equipment failure and imaging quality, and contact service representatives or CES regarding equipment problems.
- Ensure daily equipment and room maintenance are performed before, during, and after each procedure, and that special precautions and measures are performed to ensure infection control standards.
- Complete all quality checks and ensure equipment logs are maintained.
- Complete all clinical supply inventories, ensuring each diagnostic room is complete with necessary supplies required to perform the procedure.
- Demonstrate competency in PACS process and perform the daily QA process.
- Actively participate with patient testing, performing routine, non-routine, urgent, and emergent patient exams.
- Communicate with Patient Transportation, Nursing Units, Physician Offices, and other diagnostic areas to ensure patients receive their diagnostic procedures in a smooth, efficient, and safe manner.
- Perform portable examinations (when applicable) at the bedside to ensure patient safety and provide immediate diagnostic testing when needed.
- Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.
- Use independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
- Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information with medical history, and communicate findings to the appropriate physician.
- Assume responsibility for the safety, emotional, and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
- Assist with the daily operations of the ultrasound suite.
- Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
- Maintain a daily log of patients seen and complete exam-billing forms.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintain adequate supplies.
- Participate in the maintenance of the ultrasound accreditation.
- Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or ARRT.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- Associate's Degree (preferred).
