POSITION SUMMARY:
The Juvenile Probation Officer II is responsible for conducting thorough investigations, providing counseling, and ensuring ongoing supervision of juvenile probationers. This role aims to facilitate their social and personal development while managing a specific caseload effectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Executes the apprehension of parolees who breach their release conditions in accordance with legal protocols.
- Provides testimony in court regarding client-related issues such as sentencing, trials, pleas, and probation or parole violations.
- Offers assistance to offenders concerning detainees, out-of-state sentences, and legal documents.
- Monitors and supervises probationers and parolees.
- Conducts comprehensive background checks on probationers or parolees, which includes reviewing court documents, police reports, and other pertinent records.
- Evaluates the reintegration of probationers or parolees into society through diligent monitoring.
- Informs offenders or inmates about the conditions of their release, including office visits, restitution obligations, and educational or employment responsibilities.
- Develops connections and networks to formulate strategies that assist offenders in their life transitions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and Georgia P.O.S.T. certification. A minimum of 2 years of experience at the Probation Officer 1 level or in a comparable role is required.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Certification as a Field Training Officer
- Prior experience in a supervisory or lead worker capacity involving budget management, policy development, training creation, or special initiatives.
ADDITIONAL PERKS:
The organization is a participant in the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
