The Medical Assistant II, Certified provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare teams in an outpatient setting. This role requires certification and a strong foundation in medical assisting principles.
Responsibilities- Collect patient data, including vital signs and medical history.
- Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
- Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
- Administer medications under provider direction.
- Perform tests, such as EKGs and eye exams, under provider direction.
- Review patient records for routine health screenings.
- Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Assist with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
- Answer clinic phones and assist with in-basket tasks.
- Participate in emergency situations as directed.
- Precept new medical assistants and train staff in clinic procedures.
- Assist with maintaining preventive health measures and quality or safety roles.
- Medical Assistant certification from a recognized organization.
- Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
- Demonstrated possession of competencies outlined in the Medical Assistant, Certified Advancement Worksheet.
