Job Summary:

As a Full-Time Aquatic Staff member at the Greater Green Bay YMCA, Inc., you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of participants in aquatics activities. You will create an inclusive atmosphere, welcome members, and respond to any situation that may arise. Your duties will include lifeguarding, swim instruction, and leading pool deck activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster a safe and inviting environment for members and program participants.
  • Enforce prescribed safety procedures and rules of good behavior and courtesy.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and greet all pool participants in a friendly manner.
  • Be vigilant in scanning techniques and avoid activities that may take your eyes off the pool.
  • Assist first responders as needed in rescue situations and follow the center's Emergency Action Plan.
  • Keep the pool area neat and free of clutter and maintain required paperwork.
  • Actively participate in required staff trainings and meetings and maintain required certifications.
Requirements:
  • A background in an aquatic and/or recreation environment.
  • Commitment to the Y's cause and mission.
  • Ability to build relationships and deliver an exceptional experience.
  • Previous swim instruction and work with special need populations are beneficial.
  • YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguarding certification is required within the first sixty days of employment.
Physical Demands:

The incumbent must be able to swim 200 yards, tread water for 2 minutes, demonstrate rescue skills, and retrieve a brick from the bottom of the deep pool. They must also be able to lift 50 pounds to assist in pulling a person on a backboard out of the water.
