Overview

The Specialist DataLens (SDL) team is dedicated to developing persona-driven data, reports, and insights that emphasize specialization within AWS. Role Responsibilities

The SDL applied scientist will be instrumental in refining existing models by integrating and utilizing Generative AI capabilities to:

  • Identify customer trends and provide actionable recommendations for service enhancements.
  • Simplify data discovery processes to amplify business impact.

We are in search of an applied scientist with a robust foundation in Machine Learning and Data Science, a fervent enthusiasm for crafting data-centric solutions, and a proven ability to derive insights and scientific vision from data. The ideal candidate will have a history of successfully executing complex projects that yield significant business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Deeply understanding business requirements and reporting metrics to construct a data platform utilizing Generative AI and machine learning methodologies to illuminate business insights.
  • Managing the complete machine learning lifecycle, including uncovering hidden relationships among data variables, feature engineering, and developing, training, and validating machine learning models using Amazon technologies.
  • Designing, developing, and training large language models (LLMs) with advanced machine learning techniques and prompt engineering, ensuring models are optimized for performance, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Evaluating model performance through appropriate metrics and benchmarks, conducting rigorous testing and validation to ensure robustness, reliability, and fairness of the LLMs.
  • Collaborating with business intelligence engineers, technical program managers, product managers, software developers, data engineers, ML/AI specialists, and business leaders to provide scientific support and feedback.
  • Implementing, training, and validating generative AI applications within business intelligence dashboards.
  • Effectively communicating with business customers of varying technical expertise, both verbally and in writing.
  • Staying informed about the latest advancements in Generative AI and machine learning to drive continuous improvement in our data platform.

About the Team

The Specialist DataLens team is part of the AWS Specialist Technology team, focused on empowering specialists to achieve customer outcomes, enhance specialist knowledge, and scale productivity in the field. The DataLens team provides mechanisms to understand investment areas in specialization, topics of interest, and customer inquiries. They work closely with Specialist Solutions Architects and go-to-market teams to ensure customers have the information needed to effectively utilize AWS cloud services.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree with 4+ years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in building models for business applications.
  • Experience with patents or publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or similar.
  • Familiarity with algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, and high-performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Background in professional software development.

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the labor market across various US geographic regions. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is determined by several factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a comprehensive compensation package that may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
