We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Practice Management Attorney to join our team at the State Bar of Arizona. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing expert advice and guidance to lawyers and legal professionals on law office and practice management issues.
Key Responsibilities- Practice Management Expertise
- Provide confidential consultations to lawyers and legal professionals on law office and practice management issues, including starting or closing a law firm, technology use, drafting representation agreements, and improving the client experience.
- Develop and deliver continuing legal education programs on law office and practice management topics, including seminars, workshops, and online courses.
- Collaborate with the CLE department to provide staff expertise on law office and practice management issues.
- Law Office and Practice Management Support
- Conduct research on national trends, practices, and legal technology to stay current on best practices and emerging issues.
- Develop and maintain a database of supplemental resources, including consultants and experts in areas outside of Practice 2.0's expertise.
- Assist in preparing and conducting law office and practice management CLE courses, especially for solo and small firm practitioners.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate and interact with Bar members through the Bar website, social media, and other media about practice issues, new developments, and Bar resources.
- Collaborate with Lawyer Assistance Programs Director and Professional Development Coordinators to develop and teach continuing legal education programs.
- Serve as liaison to section executive councils, Young Lawyer and Senior Lawyer Divisions, and other State Bar groups, committees, and task forces as assigned.
- Other Duties
- Prepare memoranda, correspondence, and reports as required.
- Develop ready-to-use resource packets and practice aids.
- Stay current on practice management and ethical issues related to law practice management, including confidentiality of electronic information and communications, law office technology, client trust accounts, fees and billing, conflicts management, and other similar issues.
- Education and Experience
- Active member in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona.
- Three to five years of experience in the practice of law, preferably as a solo practitioner or with a small to mid-sized law firm.
- Experience in a law office and/or risk management, including trust and operating account administration, and knowledge of relevant technology.
- Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication, both oral and written, skills.
- Exercise excellent judgment.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to listen.
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Strong attention to detail and well organized.
- Flexibility in schedule to meet business needs.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work independently as well as work effectively with teams.
- Computer Skills
- Microsoft Windows environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current law office technology, including practice management solutions, preferred.
