Diagnostic Medical Sonographer PDP-WIC Job Description

Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer PDP-WIC to join our team in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Diagnostic Medical Sonographer PDP-WIC to perform high-quality ultrasound examinations and provide exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sonography and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare exam rooms and ultrasound equipment for examinations, adhering to infection control and patient safety protocols.
  2. Assume responsibility for patient safety during examinations and review patient medical history and clinical information.
  3. Evaluate contraindications, patient preparation, and ability to tolerate examinations, and document any limitations.
  4. Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety.
  5. Review examination images, synthesize results, and prepare preliminary findings for interpreting physicians.
  6. Provide preliminary reports and assist with daily operations of the sonography department.
  7. Operate FUJI (PACS) and Cerner Millennium systems.
  8. Assist with education and training of sonography students and physician residents.
  9. Obtain additional credentialing as required by regulatory agencies.
  10. Maintain and model Nuvance Health values.
  11. Demonstrate regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of experience with Breast Ultrasound.
  • Graduate of Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Diagnostic Medical Sonography School.
  • PREFER: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
  • Basic computer skills, experience with RIS systems, and PACS.
  • License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
    • Location VBMC and DRA a division of VBMC - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) - registered in Vascular or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) - registered in Abdomen or OB/GYN.
    • Location Perinatology Office - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) - registered in OB/GYN.
    • Location Dyson Breast Imaging Center - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) - registered in Breast.
Working Conditions:

Essential:

  • Significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
  • Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force.
  • Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
  • Some occupational risk.
