Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Diagnostic Mechanic I to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan Inc. This role involves performing diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment such as haul trucks, water trucks, and motor graders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform removal, repair, and installation of transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, motors, torque converters, and final drives.
  • Conduct mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as hydraulic, power train, and engines.
  • Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.
  • Perform welding such as carbon arc, plasma, MIG, TIG, and stick.
  • Perform as a fill-in supervisor as required.
  • Train and mentor other employees.
Requirements
  • Two years' experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Ability to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine systems.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with others.
  • Ability to read and use blueprints.
