Overview:
The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is in search of a dedicated Gastroenterology Physician to join our team. This full-time role involves delivering extensive medical care to patients with gastrointestinal disorders, including those suffering from hepatitis.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected physician will be tasked with:
- Providing comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary care in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
- Identifying and addressing patients' health concerns while formulating diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
- Coordinating with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient care and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Educating patients and their families about health management and treatment plans.
A significant portion of the role will focus on direct patient care, with additional time allocated for administrative responsibilities as needed.
Clinical Procedures:
The Gastroenterology Physician will perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to:
- Upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy
- Colonoscopy
- Liver and small bowel biopsies
- Esophageal dilation and motility studies
- Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
- Polypectomy and laparoscopic procedures
- Placement of esophageal stents
Work Schedule:
This position operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Compensation and Benefits:
The Veterans Affairs offers a competitive salary along with an annual performance bonus and regular salary increments. Benefits include:
- 50-55 days of paid time off annually, including annual leave, sick leave, and paid federal holidays.
- A traditional federal pension plan and a federal 401K with contributions from the VA.

- Eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) for student loan repayment.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- A current, unrestricted medical license to practice in any U.S. state or territory.
- Completion of residency training in an accredited gastroenterology program.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
Additional Information:
This position is subject to various employment conditions, including citizenship requirements and background checks. Participation in vaccination programs is mandatory for all healthcare personnel.
