Dietitian Nutritionist

As a Clinical Nutrition Specialist at Atrium Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care by delivering medical nutrition therapy, assessments, education, and monitoring services. Your expertise will help patients achieve optimal health outcomes, and your collaboration with healthcare teams will ensure seamless care coordination.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients' nutritional status using current scientific literature and relate this information to medical status, anthropometric data, clinical assessment, and dietary evaluation.
- Complete all required documentation, including nutritional care plans, assessments, consultations, nutrient intake analyses, and patient education, in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide and assess the effectiveness of patient and family education, developing and utilizing appropriate education materials as needed.
- Identify learning needs using methods appropriate to each patient's developmental and educational level, evaluate, and document learner response to teaching.
- Participate in conducting meal rounds to assess nutritional intake and status of patients on assigned units and to assess quality of patient meal service.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, clinical dietitians, and others to coordinate nutrition into a total patient therapy program.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- RD/LDN registry eligible or Registered Dietitian (Commission on Dietetic Registration) and Licensed by the NC Board of Dietetics and Nutrition required.
- Specialty certification (i.e., CDCES, CNSC, AND Certifications) may be required, as determined by department managers.
Must be able to give and receive verbal communications on a continuous basis. Must be able to read written communications on a continuous basis both hard copy and on a computer screen. Able to compose written communications frequently. Able to lift and carry objects weighing 25 pounds or less occasionally. Able to perform motor skills as reaching out/up. Frequent periods of walking, standing, sitting. Infrequently squatting, twisting, and bending.
Education, Experience, and CertificationsDemonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.
