Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Engineer to join our team at Cornerstone Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of our school buildings, grounds, and boiler/hvac system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of work orders and maintenance tasks
  • Conduct regular inspections of school facilities to identify and address any safety and maintenance issues
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment
  • Supervise and train custodial, maintenance, security, and grounds-keeping personnel
  • Collaborate with external contractors to ensure that maintenance and repair work is completed to a high standard
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and equipment maintenance
  • Develop and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce energy consumption and costs
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, facilities management) preferred
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a building maintenance or facilities management role
  • Boiler license required; other certifications (e.g. HVAC, electrical) an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with staff, students, and external contractors
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Intermediate computer skills; proficiency in maintenance management software an asset
