Job Title: Security Officer

At Hoover & Strong, we are seeking a skilled Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our premises and personnel.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Security Officer to patrol and protect our property and personnel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security operations and procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Secure premises and personnel by controlling and monitoring surveillance equipment for any unusual or suspicious activity.
  • Be visible and observant at all times, greeting staff and visitors in a courteous and attentive manner while monitoring and controlling door access for coworkers, guests, vendors, etc.
  • Maintain the company's reputation with professionalism and legal compliance, including informing violators of established policy and procedures.
  • Investigate and take appropriate lawful action as authorized by corporate policy on accidents, incidents, trespassing, suspicious activity, safety, and fire incidents.
  • Participate in and be trained to present all safety training, with no documented safety violations in the past 12 months.
  • Receive and log all incoming packages on the incoming package log spreadsheet and ensure that packages are picked up by the department in which they belong.
  • Understand and consistently adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Wear metal-free clothing, show badge, always clock in/out, and know and follow the security rules.
  • Maintain high ethics, be respectful, and honest.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong attendance record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Virginia licensing requirements for security officers preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of security experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel skills required.
  • Dependable and assertive.
  • Knowledge of security operations and procedures.
