Job Summary

The Histotechnologist plays a crucial role in preparing and processing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by a physician. This involves fixing, embedding, sectioning, and staining surgically, biopsy, neuropathological, and autopsy tissue sections to effectively demonstrate the presence or absence of disease to the Pathologist responsible for reading the slide and making a diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination
• Fix, embed, section, and stain tissue sections
• Ensure high-quality tissue preparation and staining
• Collaborate with Pathologists to provide accurate diagnostic information

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years of experience at the bench level
• ASCP Certification
• Histotechnologist - National Cert
• Strong mental and visual concentration, good hand/eye coordination, and strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on communication

Work Environment

The Histotechnologist will work in a laboratory setting with moderate energy level, lifting and carrying 25-35 lbs, and pushing/pulling lbs. The physical activity requirements include bending, carrying objects, climbing, keyboard use/repetitive motion, pinching/fine motor activities, pushing/pulling, reaching forward, reaching overhead, sitting, squat/kneel/crawl, standing, talk or hear, taste or smell, twisting, walking, and wrist position deviation.
