About This Opportunity:

M Health Fairview is seeking a skilled Nursing Station Technician/Monitor Tech to join our team at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This is a 56-hour per two weeks position on the Day/Evening shift, with every other weekend, and offers a range of benefits, including PTO, dental/medical insurance, and more.

About Our Unit:

Our 33-bed Heart Care unit is a fast-paced environment where you'll have the opportunity to gain experience in cardiovascular care. Our patients stay on average for 2.5 days, and we prepare and recover them for stress tests, echocardiograms, and cardiac procedures. You'll work with a team to care for patients with heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and other conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform delegated nursing functions, including personal care, ambulation, exercise, nutrition, and vital signs
  • Assist patients with personal cares, such as bathing and feeding
  • Recognize patient/family needs for comfort and provide appropriate measures
  • Respond to patient call lights and recognize when different approaches are needed due to age or cultural background
  • Perform special procedures, such as skin care, as defined by patient care unit practice guidelines
  • Observe patients and report any changes in status to appropriate staff
  • Document care provided and report unusual data or changes in patient condition to nurse in a timely manner
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the health care team
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and provide updates and reports to maintain continuity of care
  • Perform environmental and other responsibilities, such as maintaining order and cleanliness in patient care rooms and central desk area

Requirements:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program
  • Current certification on the MN Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Telemetry reading experience
  • 1 year experience of transcription/unit coordinator experience

Additional Requirements:

  • EKG Monitoring Course (provided by MHealth Fairview)
