Job Purpose:

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager develops and implements strategies to maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements and achieves a world-class safety culture within their division.

This EH&S Manager will utilize a hands-on approach to communicate and coach team members, including direct reports, to influence a positive safety culture with zero TRIR.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of division safety training programs.
  • Measure and manage required KPIs for Environmental, Health, and Safety, and report to the leadership team and corporation as required.
  • Provide coaching and development for all team members to improve safety behavior and performance.
  • Develop opportunities and facilitate tracking of employee engagement in EH&S improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain Occupational Health programs in conformance with regulatory expectations.
  • Oversee division nurse responsibilities, trainings, and certifications.
  • Oversee contractor safety and training, hold contractors accountable to company standards. Assess and report contractor safety performance.
  • Monitor quality and consistency of incident investigation and reporting process, ensuring proper identification and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Ensure integrity of improvement opportunities, routine risk identification, and control programs (e.g., pre-task risk assessment, development of safe work procedures, etc.).
  • Manage and monitor workers' compensation injuries and litigation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a safety or environmental sciences discipline with 3-5 years manufacturing experience OR 10 years of manufacturing management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Managerial/Supervisory experience (preferably in Safety or Environmental management).
  • Able to mentor, coach, and support members to positively impact divisional safety culture.
  • Demonstrate creativity and alternative thinking to develop new ideas and answers to work-related problems.
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal, and other regulatory requirements for environmental and health standards.
  • Knowledge of best practices, principles, and methods to achieve a sustained, safe manufacturing environment.
