Job Overview

Position: Outpatient Radiologic Technologist
Experience Level: 3-30 Years

Key Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited allied health education program and radiography training.
  • Required licensure from the NY State Department of Health or a Limited Permit, along with ARRT-RT certification or registration as RT (R).
  • Current BLS certification is mandatory.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited allied health education program and radiography school.
  • Possession of NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit, with ARRT-RT certification or registration as RT (R).
  • Adherence to continuing education standards as mandated by regulatory bodies.
  • Preferred DOH IV certification or completion of a 6-month orientation.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Completion of a radiation dose pledge for Image Gently and Image Wisely during orientation and before the end of the probationary period.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Comply with performance standards, policies, and behavioral expectations.
  • Accurately prepare and position patients for various examinations, ensuring adherence to specific protocols and thorough documentation.
  • Take ownership of designated areas and procedures, producing high-quality technical images and reviewing completed examinations for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Assist physicians during practice-based procedures as required.
  • Conduct equipment quality assurance checks and calibrations, ordering supplies as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas and equipment, promptly reporting any malfunctions.
  • Process images or print CDs as needed.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks, including answering phones, checking in patients, and obtaining previous reports or films.
  • Communicate with attending physicians regarding radiologist films and document necessary communications.
  • Provide clinical guidance to students.
  • Uphold professionalism and courtesy towards all individuals, adhering to behavioral standards.
  • Introduce oneself and educate patients or family members about the examination being performed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in delivering care tailored to diverse patient populations.
  • Fulfill additional related duties as required, participating in staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Participate in coverage rotation to other outpatient facilities as needed.
  • Be adaptable to changes in duties and hours based on the needs of the practice.
  • Position qualifies for specialty certification compensation.
