NPs operate within Kaiser Permanente's primary care and specialty departments, adhering to established protocols for both outpatient and inpatient care. They conduct thorough physical assessments, including the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests, while maintaining ongoing responsibility for patient care from diagnosis through recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather subjective patient information through history-taking.
- Perform objective assessments via physical examinations.
- Formulate diagnostic assessments.
- Design and execute management plans tailored to patient needs.
- Coordinate referrals to appropriate healthcare facilities and community resources.
- Prescribe necessary pharmacological treatments.
- Create and implement educational strategies for patient care.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up care is arranged.
- Uphold compliance with Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct and all relevant laws and regulations, safeguarding patient confidentiality and organizational integrity.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- At least one (1) year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, unless otherwise specified by the department.
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited RN and NP program or an accredited PA program.
- Master's Degree in Nursing is required for Nurse Practitioners.
Licenses and Certifications:
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number, National Nurse Practitioner Certification, California Nurse Practitioner Certificate, and California Registered Nurse License, or
- California Physician Assistant License and National Physician Assistant Certification.
- National Provider Identifier.
- Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Requirements:
- Consideration for Physician Assistant job code is possible.
- Current DEA Registration Number is required.
- New graduate NPs or PAs must obtain the California Furnishing Number and, if applicable, the DEA Registration Number within twelve (12) months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- One year of Family Nurse Practitioner experience is preferred.
