Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Endoscopy Registered Nurse to join our team at St. David's Georgetown Hospital. As an Endoscopy Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our endoscopy suite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care for endoscopy unit patients.
  • Provide leadership and supervise the care, maintenance, and activities of the endoscopy suite.
  • Ensure a clean, efficient, and safe environment within the work area.
  • Complete age-appropriate assessments of patients prior to admission to the surgical suite.
  • Verify operative procedures and consent on medical records.
  • Verify that history, physical, and allergy information are recorded on medical records and communicated to the care team.
  • Gather the patient's perception of surgery and understanding of the planned procedure, as well as provide patient teaching and emotional support.
  • Assist with care of the patient during anesthesia.
  • Perform surgical preps and position the patient properly for surgery.
  • Administer medications and IV therapy correctly and safely.
  • Ensure availability of safe equipment, participate in process improvement, and prevent and manage accidents in the work area.
Requirements
  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in an acute care setting.
  • 1 year of previous Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) experience is preferred.
  • Associates degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy required within 6 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) certification is preferred.
