CDL Instructor

Montana Tech is seeking a qualified Part-Time CDL Instructor to join our team. As a CDL Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching CDL students in range skills, including pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, backing, and driving activities.

• Instruct CDL students in range skills, including pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, backing, and driving activities.
• Implement techniques to facilitate student active learning.
• Participate in program and curriculum development and outcome assessments.
• Communicate instructions to students, assess student performance, and provide students guidance on performing maneuvers on a skills driving range and in the truck on roads.
• Inspect vehicles to ensure roadworthiness and safety.

• OTR Driving: 3 years including a minimum of one (1) year as a long haul/OTR tractor-trailer driver.
• Current Valid CDL-A.
• DOT Physical Card.
• Must be able to pass a DOT drug/alcohol screen.
• Recent Truck Driving Experience: Minimum of one (1) year as a long haul/OTR tractor-trailer driver.
• A safe CDL A driving record.
• Knowledge/Skill: Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of safe truck driving and all of the laws and regulations covering tractor-trailer interstate operations.

• One (1) year of vocational education tractor-trailer driver teaching / driver training experience, or two (2) years of practical trucking related experience that demonstrates instructional competency.
• Endorsements in Double/Triples, Tank and HAZMAT.
• Attitude: Driving instructors/teachers must show an attitude that is favorable toward performance.
