Position Overview: The role of the driver involves operating school buses and vans to transport students safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include adhering to all relevant laws and regulations to guarantee passenger safety, ensuring that all children are accounted for at the end of each route, and maintaining knowledge of designated routes and stops. Drivers are also responsible for keeping the vehicle clean and in good working order, along with any additional tasks assigned by management.
Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: The position may involve mental and visual stress from prolonged periods of screen time and requires limited lifting of light objects. The role involves extended periods of sitting and may include stress related to productivity expectations.
- Work Setting: The work is primarily conducted in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. It is important to note that the environment can sometimes be noisy and stressful due to the nature of our services.
- Equipment Utilized: The position requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, and calculators.

Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements for school bus operation. This includes a School Bus Endorsement (S) and a Passenger Endorsement (P), as mandated by state regulations. All drivers must also meet the requirements for transporting students, including a background check and compliance with safety standards.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Hold a valid driver's license with the necessary classifications.
- Successfully complete written examinations for the required endorsements.
- Pass a practical driving test in a school bus.
- Maintain a clean driving record without repeated traffic violations.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry light objects, with no physical limitations that would hinder job performance.
- Capacity for frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Must be free from emotional limitations that could affect job performance, including substance abuse.
- Strong organizational skills to manage schedules and events effectively.
- Ability to maintain composure in a structured environment.
