Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish strategic goals and direction for the Quality Assurance team, focusing on innovation and progressive audit and oversight approaches.
  • Assess team and auditor developmental needs, identifying training solutions to develop auditors who are fact finders, risk-focused, and willing to seek solutions.
  • Lead complex safety and risk management activities for Alaska Air Group and its subsidiaries.
  • Partner with Audit Programs leadership and key stakeholders to facilitate risk assessments and support a risk-based audit.
  • Ensure all audits are executed with safety, quality, and compliance at the forefront, and remain focused on continuous improvement to strengthen the Company's processes and controls.
  • Guide teams in delivering high-quality audit reports and monitoring dashboards, working closely with company management to develop actionable plans to address audit findings.
  • Prepare formal written reports, backed by adequate evidence, to support audit conclusions on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems.
  • Evaluate corrective actions taken by management to ensure findings are effectively addressed and resolved, and oversee tracking, assessment, and resolution of corrective actions by auditors within the audit database.
  • Develop a QA data collection and reporting strategy, and oversee execution of work by data analysts.
  • Promote a high-performance culture by cultivating and motivating direct and indirect reports through coaching, mentoring, and regular feedback.
Requirements:
  • 7 years of experience in business or operational process auditing, or equivalent in operational or audit leadership.
  • 4 years of leadership experience, with at least some experience directly leading people.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to quickly understand complex processes, effectively scope assessments, and lead high-energy, success-oriented teams.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, process-driven, and a strong safety advocate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Aviation, safety program management, or Safety Management Systems (SMS) experience.
  • Auditor certification or training (e.g., Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), ISO Quality Auditor).

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including location, relevant experience/level, and skillset, while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
