Job Description

This role will involve creating design drawing packages, leading a team of drafters, completing assignments, and miscellaneous drawings as required by project scope. The successful candidate will be responsible for utilizing accepted practices and standards to ensure that all designs meet the highest level of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Edit, validate, and incorporate newly developed training and technical manual material and red-line edits to update the latest operating procedures.
  2. Participate in the verification of new procedures at military installations and the Prime Contractors' facility.
  3. Perform a variety of technical writing, editing, and research duties in connection with the preparation of technical manuals and technical publications.
  4. Complete drafting assignments on Protection & Control, SCADA, Communications drawings including but not limited to Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, SCADA and Communication drawings, Control Building Layouts and Elevations, Panel Front Views and Cabinet Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Interconnection Drawings, AC/DC Station Service drawings and other miscellaneous drawings as required by project scope.
  5. Complete drafting assignments on Physical Electrical drawings including but not limited to General Arrangement, Electrical Plans, Electrical Elevations, Sections and Details, Foundation Plans and Details, Structural Details, Grounding Plan and Details, Raceway Plan and Details, Equipment Vendor Files and other drawings as required by project scope.
  6. Develop new, or modify existing engineering layout/plan of RHN equipment and structures.
  7. Oversee the creation and foundation layout/plan drawings.
  8. Section/elevation views from layout/plan drawings.
  9. Conduit layout/plan drawings.
  10. Control building layout/plan and section/elevation drawings.
  11. Develop a complete bill of materials for all required electrical equipment and materials.
  12. Responsible for reviewing and commenting on equipment drawings received from vendors and manufacturers.
  13. Work with other disciplines (e.g., Civil Engineers) as necessary to complete assigned work.
  14. Oversee CAD project team with developing processes and procedures to increase team efficiency.
  15. Perform basic engineering calculations to support engineering design.
  16. Apply relevant client, national, and state standards to each assignment as needed.
  17. Support office overflow CAD workload on a need and availability basis.


Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree with 4 or more years of directly related experience using CAD software on industry projects. Additional directly related experience can offset the degree requirements. Experience with technical writing and editing is also essential. An active DoD Secret security clearance is mandatory.
