Your Impact as a Hospice Aide

As a Hospice Aide, you will:

  • Deliver compassionate care to patients, allowing them to remain in the comfort of their homes with loved ones.

Qualifications for Hospice Aide

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is highly desirable.
  • In states without licensure requirements, applicants must meet one of the following:
    • Possess a current license/certification as an aide; or
    • Have completed a state-approved nurse aide training program and have been continuously employed in that role for the past 24 months.
  • Current CPR certification is mandatory.

State-Specific Requirements

For various states, specific certifications may be required:

  • California: State certification as a home health aide.
  • Colorado: Completion of state training program and certification via DORA.
  • Indiana: Registration on the Indiana Nurse Aide Registry is required.
  • Missouri: Licensed/certified as a Nurses' Aide or completion of a nurses' aide training program with employment for the past 24 months.
  • New Hampshire: Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) required.
  • New Jersey: Certification as a Homemaker – Home Health Aide or long-term care CNA.
  • Virginia: Aide certification required.
  • Wisconsin: Certification and listing on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry required.
