Position Overview
The University of Iowa is looking for a dedicated full-time Staff Auditor in the Office of Internal Audit. This role involves the planning and execution of diverse internal audits, assessing operational and business processes to ensure adequate internal controls and adherence to various policies and regulations. The successful candidate will identify process risks and propose actionable recommendations for enhancement. Follow-up reviews of audited areas will also be conducted to verify that management has implemented necessary corrective measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of operational processes.
- Identify areas of risk and recommend improvements to enhance internal controls.
- Perform follow-up reviews to ensure corrective actions have been taken by management.
- Map out processes to identify gaps in internal controls and efficiencies.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership effectively.
Reporting Structure
This position will report to the Chief Audit Executive and will be based at the University of Iowa, with a hybrid work model available.
About the Office of Internal Audit
The Office of Internal Audit operates as an independent and objective assurance and consulting entity aimed at enhancing organizational operations. By employing a systematic and disciplined approach, it evaluates and improves risk management, control, and governance processes. The office collaborates with management to bolster organizational value through independent assessments of operational efficiencies and controls.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or information technology, or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical skills to assess business policies and practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with data analysis tools and techniques.
- Project management capabilities to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Preferred:
- Minimum of one year of audit experience.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, or CISA.
- In-depth knowledge of internal audit methodologies.
- Understanding of organizational dynamics and key success factors.
- Familiarity with Workday functionalities and controls.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is between $55,000 and $70,000.
