Job Overview

Tiffin University is seeking a talented Adjunct Professor for English Language and Literature to join our team. The successful candidate will teach part-time and on-campus courses, primarily focusing on first-year composition and reading. As an adjunct faculty member, you will be an integral part of our academic community, contributing to the growth and development of our students.



Job Responsibilities

  1. Teach in-person classes as needed in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters
  2. Lead/participate in classroom discussions with students asynchronously
  3. Instruct and supervise a diverse population of students in the classroom
  4. Possess a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence
  5. Ability or willingness to learn to manage a class
  6. Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources
  7. Grading and providing detailed feedback on all assignments (critical thinking assignments and discussion board) within 5 days of assignment due date. This includes in-depth feedback specific to critical thinking and writing.
  8. Actively responding to student emails and requests within 24 hours
  9. Engage with students through electronic communications
  10. Employs positive and professional tone in all communications with students, staff, and faculty
  11. Be a scholar in the area of English/Communication
  12. Assist in efforts to recruit and retain students
  13. Adhere to Tiffin University policies and procedures


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:



  1. A Master's degree or higher with a major in the course content area
  2. Evidence of competence in the area of instruction
  3. Maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities


Estimated Salary

The estimated salary for this position is around $40,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
