We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Meat Department Team Lead to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Team Leader in analyzing sales, reports, and labor to drive business growth and improve efficiency.
- Develop and maintain creative store layouts and product merchandising to drive sales and customer engagement.
- Work with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, and to resolve team concerns or issues.
- Function as the point person and departmental person in charge in the absence of the Team Leader.
- Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution, and foster a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
- Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, and direct Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers.
- Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover.
- Communicate and maintain Team Member safety and security standards, and provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
- Consistently communicate and model WFM vision and goals.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy.
- Extensive knowledge of meat products, and a growth mindset towards greater responsibility and ownership.
- Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
- Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner.
- Thorough product knowledge, and advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
- Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
- Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
- Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
- 18+ months retail Team Member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience.
This role requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, and to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities. The ideal candidate will be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Whole Foods Market offers a competitive hourly rate of $35.00, commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan benefits, and paid time off.
