Physical Therapist Assistant

Amergis is seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing physical therapy services to our clients, working under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide physical therapy services, including treatment, implementation, and documentation, in accordance with the physician's plan of care and state regulations.
- Treat individuals to help relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain functional mobility and performance.
- Continuously assess the client's living environment for barriers, safety risks, and equipment needs.
- Direct and aid clients in active, passive, and resistive therapeutic exercises, muscle re-education, functional gait and balance training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training.
- Instruct care and use of assistive mobility devices, braces, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
- Utilize physical agents, including heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage.
- Clean and maintain equipment used in the field in accordance with manufacturer's directions and per policy.
- Instruct and educate individuals, families, and/or caregivers in the use of and care of therapeutic appliances.
- Report reactions to treatment or changes in condition to the physician and Physical Therapist.
- Identify individual and family/caregiver needs for other supportive services and notify the Physical Therapist.
- Maintain communication with the company and other personnel caring for the client to ensure that their efforts effectively complement each other and support the objectives outlined in the plan of care.
- Prepare and submit clinical progress summaries based on progress toward goals and responses to treatment.
- Participate in discharge planning.
- Provide/submit accurate and timely documentation that is consistent with the plan of care.
- Comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standards.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy Assistant.
- One (1) year of prior professional Physical Therapy Assistant experience preferred.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR if applicable.
- TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
