POSITION SUMMARY: The Group Fitness Instructor is an integral member of the Chiefs Fit team, contributing significantly to the overall success of the organization. The GFI is responsible for designing and leading engaging, safe, and effective group fitness sessions tailored to the specific class format, while providing modifications for participants of varying skill levels. The instructor is expected to embody a positive representation of the club, welcoming clients as they arrive and depart from classes.

SCHEDULE:
This role is part-time and non-exempt. The daily schedule will fluctuate throughout the week based on the club's requirements, staff availability, and member needs.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
  • Demonstrate and uphold the company’s core values
  • Achieve departmental objectives
  • Fulfill essential responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the Group Fitness team
  • Arrive 5 minutes prior to classes to prepare the environment and greet participants
  • Dress appropriately for all sessions
  • Maintain current certifications relevant to the fitness formats taught, including CPR certification
  • Start and conclude classes punctually according to the monthly schedule
  • Deliver enjoyable, safe, and effective classes for all participation levels based on the class description
  • Ensure studios are tidy, secure stereo equipment, and utilize microphone hygiene covers
  • Keep an electronic log of classes taught or substituted, including attendance figures
  • When necessary, arrange for substitute instructors for regular classes or agreed-upon substitutions
  • Inform the Group Fitness Director of all substitutes as early as feasible
  • Notify the club if running late and request management to inform class attendees
  • Adhere to the scheduled classes. If members express interest in alternative formats, communicate with the Group Fitness Director for potential additions
  • All communications, written or verbal, must be conducted positively
  • Instructors are expected to consistently uphold the brand standards of Chiefs Fit

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION:
  • A strong passion for health and wellness, with the ability to motivate individuals to overcome barriers to exercise, fitness club membership, and lifestyle changes
  • Enjoy networking and building relationships; comfortable with outreach efforts in the community
  • Dedication to delivering exceptional customer service, with experience in a fast-paced customer service environment
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Word and Excel
  • A collaborative team player who approaches challenges creatively and positively
  • Experience in a sales-driven environment focused on achieving revenue and unit targets is advantageous
