Job Summary and Qualifications
The Nurse Extern PRN will operate under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) and assist nursing staff in delivering patient care. You will provide high-quality, patient-focused care related to essential nursing tasks and daily living activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with the clinical team to develop and execute care plans by performing both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Collecting and documenting initial and ongoing patient information throughout their care journey.
- Assisting with patient mobility, including regular repositioning, ambulation, and transfers between units or departments.
- Simplifying complex medical terminology to ensure patients and their families understand medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
- Educating patients and families on healthy lifestyle choices, disease prevention, and self-management strategies for discharge.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in an accredited nursing program and maintaining good academic standing is required.
- Ability to create and implement a personal career development plan, reviewed regularly by a supervisor or preceptor.
- One year of completed nursing education is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary.
